He is quite a character as he holds his long large brush high in the air. What is most fascinating is the vessel he is using for paint: he appears to be holding a pedestal attached to a large porcelain type bowl sitting on a platter! Certainly not the normal plain bucket that is customary in these occupationals. This is an extremely bright ambrotype with strong dark tones. The whites of his pants and sleeves blend into the stark white background giving it a wonderful effect. The image has some spots as seen.
