The consignor thought this might be Empress Elizabeth of Austria after seeing a photo of her as a teenager. However, while she appears similar, this young woman\u2019s hair is much shorter while still one of the more contemporary looks seen during this period. She wears an off-the-shoulder dress with a choker of pearls and what appear to be two closed photo locket earrings. The image is in excellent minus condition with strong tones and contrast. This is a dynamite portrait that is framed in a paper sleeve and approximately a ninth-plate in size.
