Incredible advertising cabinet card for Funeral Directors the Ambler Bros. This is one of the more unique advertising photographs we have offered. In it, we see an unusual cemetery scene of unmarked graves with caged or glass domes over floral arrangements. We have never seen anything similar in the past so if anyone has additional information it would be appreciated. Also, there are wooden stakes with just numbers identifying the plots. There are also a number of what we assume are drain pipes just above the ground. A large number of potted flowers are visible on the far right and some traditional headstones are seen in the background. It looks like a bleak fall or winter day with the fog just lifting, which adds an appropriately somber atmosphere. A solitary bench is seen in the far background for contemplation.\u00a0
The back of the mount has a superior advertisement showing a funeral carriage being driven by a man and four horses. We see their telephone number at the top and it says \u201cWe Give Immediate Attention to Telephonic Messages Letters and Telegrams.\u201d Their telegraphic address is \u201cRespect, Birmingham.\u201d It also reads \u201cFunerals carried out at the Lowest Possible Charges consistent with respectability.\u201d\u00a0
The image has some wear as seen with the top corner missing and a small part of the top layer of the mount on the bottom. This is a typical British gloss photograph from the early 20th century. A rare occupational advertising cabinet card to say the least so doesn\u2019t miss out!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
