A spectacular quarter-plate daguerreotype of an attractive young couple commemorating a special occasion. It has been suggested that this was possibly a wedding photograph. Both of our sitters have a keen sense of fashion; the gentleman wears a very stylish suit with patterned vest and what appears to be a gilded Masonic pin on his tie. His wife wears a stunningly beautiful dress. Her corset seems to be tightly laced as evidenced by her extreme hourglass figure. A beautiful bonnet with a large bow that is visible at her neckline, and black wristbands round out her ensemble. The photographer has posed our couple in an equally interesting fashion with the two separated by a table. A lovely vase that has been filled with dried flowers and greenery has been placed on the table and dominates the center of the image. The tablecloth has pink tinted highlights, and color also has been added to their cheeks. The image is in excellent condition with a beautiful band of blue perimeter tarnish. The plate had old seals intact and has now been resealed with new glass. It is housed in a full leather case.
