Appealing sixth-plate daguerreotype of a couple posed arm-in-arm in a horizontal format. The gentleman is wearing a slightly unusual outfit with a wide black ribbon visible over his patterned vest that extends from his neck to the left side of his jacket. His wife has a somewhat exotic appearance and is dressed in a very stylish outfit. The plate is in excellent condition with hand tinting to the faces and gilded jewelry. There is some perimeter tarnish that is starting to invade at the top of the man’s head. The image had old seals intact and has now been resealed with new glass. It is contained in a full leather case.
