Thought provoking sixth-plate ambrotype of a bearded man wearing a heavy double-breasted overcoat. A folded document with an illustration of a soaring eagle is visible in his front pocket, and through some assistance from a collector we have identified the paper as an issue of the Boston Cultivator, a family newspaper. The image is in excellent condition with tinting to the man’s face and has nice tonal qualities with a few extremely minuscule mat marks along the perimeter. It is contained in a full paper mache case. A very unique image in need of further research!
