Lot 24
Lot 24
Fascinating sixth-plate, late 1840’s daguerreotype of a handsome young man. In a bizarre twist, there is an abstract form in the middle of his chest which crosses slightly into his face. This came to us as a consignment, so we don’t know the image’s history, but the form appears to be an area of plate delamination. However, it is odd that it just stopped like this and shows no sign of extending in the future. The image has been cleaned in the past and we see a few light lines. It was also resealed in the past and is housed in a full case.
