Lot 24

Fun mid-1840’s sixth-plate daguerreotype of a father and son. The tall lanky dad is full of confidence while his son stands at attention with his arm entwined with his father’s. Dad cuts quite a figure with his double-breasted silk vest and cool striped pants. The young lad is also perfectly dressed in a long plaid tunic that has been cinched with a plain black belt. This is a bright plate in very good condition with great tones and contrast. There is a small brush mark on the right side of the boy’s shoulder with some other tiny spots as seen. It appears to have been cleaned in the past and is now resealed and housed in half of a case.
