Lot 38

Intriguing sixth-plate ambrotype of a longer haired gentleman who seems to have a dead left arm. The arm hangs lifeless as seen in the full view that we have provided. With a slight tilt to his head he has a concerned look on his face as he has just received some bad news.  We aren’t sure of the significance of the ribbon or leather strap that is tied around his neck but it seems to be attached to something in his top pocket, so maybe it’s just his pocket watch. The plate has nice tones and contrast with some light tinting to his face. There is a spot above his head. The image is housed in half of a case.
