Interesting cabinet card of an adorable wide-eyed curly-blonde-haired girl. The look of amazement on her face is fabulous! We are curious though why she is posed before a Civil War battle scene painting that has been draped with the photographer’s floral lace curtain. Was her family involved in the war and then moved out west? The image is in very good minus condition with lovely tones and contrast. There is some spotting and wear as seen with a small nick in the photo on the top right along with some light lines. By H. Kemp Van E. Santa Rosa, Cal. According the Santa Rosa historical sites list of photographers Kemp Van E worked from 1886 until 1902 at 410 Fourth Street, (Glenn’s Block).
