Spectacular pair of cabinet cards of a gorgeous young girl posed playing a humongous harp. Dressed in a simple floor length white gown we love that she is playing in her bare feet! She is obviously too small to work the pedals, but she is posed as if she knows how to play in her own style, and gazes at the photographer while plucking the strings. In the second image she is also sporting a cute white bow in her hair. The harpist is identified on the back of one image as Rosemonde, (one reads Rosemode), Adams, Auburn, NY, 1906. We found a Francis Rosemonde Adams who was born in 1899 in Auburn. In a later census she was listed as working for the Chamber of Commerce as a typist.
These stunning images were captured by Ernsberger of Auburn, NY.  William H. Ernsberger was a distinguished photographer in Auburn where he operated a studio for more than sixty years. He photographed abolitionist Harriet Tubman in 1908. These silver prints shine with beautiful tones and contrast. There is a small amount of wear and some glue residue at the top of the mounts as seen with one mount slightly trimmed on the right side. These would look wonderful matted as a pair and hung on a wall! Please see lot 104 for another example of Ernsberger’s quality photography.
