Dazzling boudoir-style cabinet card showing a rambunctious group of men working in a remote Canadian location with a killer log cabin behind them. The former owner relayed they were working on the eastern point of the Canadian Pacific Railroad which carried cargo to Port Arthur from the Great Lakes. We can see that their entertainment included the typical card game, while two men are shown wearing boxing gloves. On the lighter side, the cook seems to be a fiddle player while lying on a section of the large pile of firewood. Another strange thing is that there is not a bottle of booze or a smoke among them! The front right area appears to be a burn site as we see numerous cans or rolled metal scattered with ashes on the ground. The image has fantastic rich tones and contrast. There is some spotting on the cool decorative mount with a tiny ding at the top. By J. F. Cooke, Port Arthur, ONT. Cooke was known for documenting the Canadian Pacific Railroad.
