Lot 104

Lot 104

Fabulous cabinet card of an older gentleman in deep concentration as he reads a large book. It is identified on the back as H.B., Dec. 25^th, 1884, 100 years old. Judging by the large volumes on the table we would not be surprised if he was a lawyer or a doctor. This was captured by Auburn, NY’s famous long-time photographer William H. Ernsberger. Ernsberger certainly knew how to stage a photograph in a most natural setting! The image is in very good condition with nice tones and contrast. There is a hint of wear as seen. Please see lot 98 for another example of Ernsberger’s quality art.
