Killer sixth-plate daguerreotype of a cool couple. This image has a folk-art vibe and many levels of entertainment. The husband is quite a character with his unruly, poofy hair that will make you chuckle. His wife though is quite lovely, with her own fashion sense in a cool long fringed dress that has been tinted a lovely light blue. The photographer has also slightly overexposed the plate to create a blue solarization on her fan and her husband’s vest and tie. The effect on his vest is priceless as it is broken into five sections which resemble a defined torso! The plate is in very good plus condition with nice tones and contrast and keeping with the theme there is an unusual fun tarnish as seen. It had old seals loosely attached and we have now resealed it with a new glass. It is housed in half of a case that has a lot of wear.
