Sharp daguerreian pin with a portrait of a distinguished gentleman with an intense stare. He wears a formal suit with a gold-gilded chain on his tie and is sporting a professionally groomed thick beard. Because of the tarnish pattern on the image, it almost appears as if he has a topknot on his dark hair. The daguerreotype is vibrant with brilliant tones and contrast. There are some spots as seen. The pin measures 1 ½” vertically and there is light crack in the top outer rim as seen in the scan. This is just in the top layer and doesn’t extend to the other side. There is a small ding in the gold backing. We haven’t tested it for gold content.
