Mesmerizing quarter-plate framed daguerreotype of an older gentleman with a haunting appearance. His crystal clear eyes seem to hold both the past and the future. The years show in his stiff arthritic pose and long, scraggly white beard. This daguerreotype was from the Applewhite-Clark Collection and while he looks vaguely familiar we have not being able to place him. If anyone can help with an identification it would be appreciated. The image is in excellent minus condition. It has a light haze on the perimeter that perfectly complements the plate. It had old seals intact and we have resealed it with a new glass. It is housed in a cool deep-set leather frame with a decorative gold gilded border. The original hanging loop is still attached.  This is a daguerreotype that we love, so don’t miss out or we might keep it!
