Tender sixth-plate daguerreotype of an attractive young mother lovingly cradling her baby. Wearing a plain black dress with a white lace collar, she adds a little pizazz to her portrait with a floral scarf which the photographer has tinted. The image is in very good plus condition with strong tones and contrast with some delicate tint to her and the baby’s face and lips. There are a few spots as seen with the one on the bottom left by the mat opening being a copper spot. The plate had old seals attached and we have resealed it with a new glass. It is housed in a nice full case with a vibrant blue velvet mat inside.
