Captivating quarter-plate English daguerreotype of a balding gentleman wearing a heavy overcoat holding a cane. His cool top hat is visible on the table next to him. He has a forlorn expression as he glances to the side with his wire rimmed glasses. There is a slight hint of both sadness and fascination with this plate. The tarnish pattern is quite interesting and certainly adds to the portrait. The image has very nice tones and contrast with some light tinting to his face and lips. There are some small spots as seen. The plate had tight old seals and we have resealed it with a new glass. It is housed in a full plain leather case.
