Fascinating sixth-plate daguerreotype of an older gentleman. While the photo was taken from life, it has the qualities of a painting. His eyes are almost lifeless and the small amount of hair on the top of his head appears to be a bad toupee. However, when viewing under magnification his face has a tremendous amount of detail, and his eyes are a certainly a window into his soul. But even under closer inspection his hair still might be a toupee! The image is in excellent minus condition with tinting to his face and lips. It has been resealed with a new glass and is in a full hard shell/lacquered pressed paper case.
