Lot 28

Exceptional British occupational sixth-plate ambrotype of a clockmaker. With a smile on his face this proud gentleman holds a stunning wood clock that captures his portrait at 11:10AM. This ebonized or highly polished design is quite lovely, with an intricate repeating interlocking circle on the inside of the top arch and duplicated in a similar design around the face of the clock. Our happy artist appears to be tall and slender in stature but with much larger legs. The image is in excellent minus condition with great tones and contrast. There are a few tiny spots in the background as seen. It is housed in a typical half hanging British case that still has the loop perfectly intact.
