Heartbreaking ninth-plate post-mortem ambrotype of a baby holding a single red tinted flower. The image was certainly captured at home, and it is hard to tell what the child is laying on other than the dark tablecloth which is contrasted by a white sheet behind. The photographer has done the family justice as the child appears to be resting peacefully. The image is in excellent minus condition with great tones and contrast and some light tint to the child’s cheeks and lips. A truly treasured piece that is housed in a brown “Angel Holding Cornucopia 1”, Berg, 1-140. The case has some light wear with rounding of a couple of corners but is an easy open and close with no cracks.
