Treasured quarter-plate over-painted English ambrotype of a delightful couple. It is rare to see a couple go to the studio with the intent to have some fun and these two seem ready for a party! With smiles that bring joy to the viewer, these two are also meticulously dressed. The wife sports a large photo pin of her husband and the adornments in her hair are simply divine. A glass of red liquid sits between them with two red tinted books on the table. The husband holds another tinted book in his hand along with a long, slender clay tavern smoking pipe. The ambrotype is in excellent minus condition with beautiful tones and contrast. The background has been delightfully overpainted. It is housed in a full leather case with a lovely green velvet pad. There is one area of leather loss on the center of the back of the case.
