Charming sixth-plate English outdoor ambrotype of a mother and son posed outside their large home which is adorned with a row of potted plants in front of the woman. The young lad raises his hand in front of his face with a wave or possibly a Bronx cheer! With him having so much fun we wonder if his father or a friend was the photographer or possibly this was a self-portrait. We love the way this image is framed with the moving branches creating a lovely effect on the top. The plate has nice tones and contrast and at an angle we can see some crackling in the black backing. It is housed in a half case that has a lot of wear.
