Killer slightly larger cdv tintype (3 1/8” x 4 3/4” with the sleeve closed) from “Conrad the Picture Man,” Tin Type Shops, 215 Wisconsin Street, Schlitz Park, White Fish Bay. We love the name as it reminds us of a typical “carny” moniker. This beautiful image shows two men in uniforms and although we can’t read the letters inside the wreath on their hats, we suspect they were sailors on Lake Michigan. The rubber gaiters that cover their boots to their knees are a giveaway. Possibly they traveled the lakes or offered tours in the Wisconsin area. The tintype is in excellent minus condition with rich tones and contrast. The paper sleeve has a tear on the back behind the image side. As seen, Conrad operated out of a tent in the park which is located in Milwaukee. White Fish Bay is suburb north of the city on Lake Michigan.
