Striking whole-plate tintype of a family in its original wood and gilded frame. We see a young husband and wife posed with their cute boy and baby. Dad is dressed in a traditional dark suit while mom wears a lovely black polka-dot dress with a simple white collar with a pin attached. The perfectly posed young boy has a wonderful facial expression that seems to judge the photographer’s technique. He stayed in perfect focus except for his one hand moving from anxiety or possibly having to go to the bathroom! The little one seems quite unfazed by the process as he or she snuggles in mom’s protective grasp. Both kids are in cool polka-dot outfits to match their mother. The image is as beautiful as you will find. The tones and contrast are exceptional. The white mat has the usual toning and spots from all the years. The frame is in very nice condition with a little loss that would be easy enough to repair if desired. This came to us from an older Arizona collection.
