Lot 45
Fascinating quarter-plate tintype of two cool dudes in hats. The young man on the left has a glimmer in his eyes as if he has been looking forward to their day in the studio. We can’t say for certain but under close examination he might be mixed race. He wears a working man’s suit but adds some pizazz with his light checkered pants. His buddy seems a little less enthusiastic and appears to lean out of the image on the right! The image is in very good minus condition with just a hint of tint. There is a brush mark on the man on the right and there is some loss under that mat that seems stable. It is housed in a well-worn union case, “Roger deCoverly and the Gypsies Fortune 2”, Berg 1-38. The case also has a warp and doesn’t latch properly.
