Fabulous grouping of cdvs from Buffalo, NY. The first one is a stunning cdv of a gorgeous, smiling young woman with her beautiful hair in ringlets. Draped in an off-the-shoulder cape she mostly certainly could have been a model or actress even in the modern world. According to Craig’s Registry this would have been taken by Daguerreian Willard, (William), Knight who was first listed in Buffalo in 1852. The tones and contrast are exceptional, and it has a light line that extends from the top in the background to the left of her face that is possibly a wrinkle when mounting.
Next are two cdvs of a husband and wife by J.T. Upton. This would have been Jefferson T. Upton who photographed Buffalo’s prominent citizens including President Millard Fillmore. Both seem familiar and the album had a number of important, identified figures but we can’t place an identification. Any information would be appreciated. Both are strong portraits with excellent tones and contrast.
The next pair of cdvs are of older elegant women. They are unidentified but have a similar appearance to the woman by Upton. One is standing in profile while the other sits with her arm resting on a table. This one has been trimmed but still has great tones and contrast. The other is in very good condition. This was part of an album consigned to us which featured Civil War, singers and author photos.
