Lot 90
Intriguing cabinet card of a young girl and her little brother posed outside their tent, before a barren land appears to stretch for miles. The smiling girl seems quite happy, while her brother sits in his chair wearing a heavier jacket. We see some buckets/pots in the foreground for water and cooking. Behind them there appears to be a large animal that was a fresh kill from a hunt. A small animal appears to be peering from the tent on the right side. Two small flags fly from the tops of the tents. It is identified as “Camp La Gloria before Elbert was born in 1890.” The former owner said this was in Texas. We did find an example of some photographs labeled as a military camp in Texas called La Gloria, but it was a later date. The area was at the southern tip of Texas near the border in Hidalgo, Texas. The image is in very good minus condition with a spot on the right and the mount has a curve.
