Stunning large (5” x 7”) cabinet card of a group of German soldiers celebrating with drinking, smoking and a card game. The sign reads Salü, 1905-07 which is a general greeting or hello. The previous owner said these were reservists from Karlsruhe. Possibly this was identified by the uniforms or regional beer steins which have elaborate scenes ranging from military to musical. The image is in very good plus condition with fabulous purple/brown tones and great contrast. There is a signature in the negative on the large wood beer barrel but we can’t read it clearly.
