Fascinating sixth-plate late 1840’s daguerreotype of a handsome young man. In a bizarre twist is this abstract form in the middle of his chest which crosses slightly into his face. While this came to us as a consignment and we don’t know the past history it appears to be an area of plate delamination. However, it is quite strange how it just stopped like this and shows no sign of extending in the future. It has been cleaned in the past and we see a few light lines. It was also resealed in the past and is housed in a full case.  $75
