The Shower at Aix Les Bains
The Shower at Aix Les Bains
Fascinating occupational cabinet card with the title at the bottom translating as “The shower at the Aix- thermal establishment.” Aix Les-Bains is a commune in southeastern France on the shore of the largest natural lake of glacial origin in France. It was a spa town for the nobility and wealthy. While the thermal baths are still in existence it is not the current main draw today. Two workers are seen massaging a wealthy patron most likely after her thermal bath. She wears a simply white sleeveless terry fabric dress that resembles a white cotton towel. The woman massaging her legs and foot glances upward just as the photographer is capturing the image. We have to say this is another first offering for this particular occupation. Slightly larger in format the image is in very good plus condition with nice tones and contrast. There is a curve to the mount. By, G. Brun, Aix-Les-Bains. $40
