Heavenly cdv showing a family enjoy an outing in what we assume is somewhere in Central Park as this was captured by Silas Holmes Park Gallery at 303 Broadway, NY. If a New Yorker recognizes this site any information would be appreciated. There is a pencil inscription on the back that reads, “Love Lake, Black Servants at Love Lake, NY.” Sitting in a bench to the left of the bridge is a woman being served by an African American servant with the typical white linen napkin draped over his arm and holding a small basket. A young girl beautifully dressed in white hurries across the bridge to her young African American nanny who poses with a direct glance at Holmes. She is also dressed in an exquisite full gown. Enjoying some alone time the gentleman of the house leans into the ground in what appears to be a more casual outfit matching this setting. This serene scene is stunning with the still glassy lake in the background surrounded by woods with a little light streaming down in the center. The image is in excellent minus condition with nice tones and contrast. $55
