Vibrant quarter-plate daguerreotype of three adorable children, with a handwritten identification attached to the original glass which appears to read, Maria, Miles L. and Matilda Cox. The two girls are obviously related and surely sisters. The boy’s complete name appears to be Miles L Everret but he also looks like a sibling. The sisters are in matching dresses while Miles has a cool black velvet jacket and his pants appear to be the same material as the girl’s outfits. He is also sporting a nice pair of boots. The kids all have that priceless, dumbfounded look on their faces. They stare at the photographer while Miles locks arms with Maria for security. There is something on the floor by the left leg of Miles’ chair, but we have not been able to identify it, although it does look like a hotdog! This is an extremely bright and sharp daguerreotype with great tones and contrast and some light tinting to the childrens’ faces. There are a couple tiny spots as seen. The plate had old seals intact and we resealed it with the old glass to preserve the ID. It is housed in a nice full case.
