Lot 9

Lot 9

Brilliant sixth-plate daguerreotype of a young woman that was purchased with the previous lot who is mostly likely her mother. Presented with a smaller mat opening, this sharp image really shines. She is dressed in a simple black dress with a cool plaid bow and what we feel is a probably a daguerreian broach at her neck.  Her hair is expertly wrapped hair around what appears to be a hair comb and we would not be surprised if her hair reached to her mid-back. The plate is in excellent minus condition with a couple some small spots. We have resealed it with a new glass and it resides in a simple floral case indicative of the late 1840’s. This lot also includes a ninth-plate ambrotype that was included and appears to be her or a sister at a later date.
