Touching quarter-plate daguerreotype of an attractive young mother trying not to laugh as her little one wants to fly away! The child certainly didn’t cooperate by remaining still but you can bet mom treasured this daguerreotype just the same. The young woman’s two-toned outfit is quite lovely. Her checkered top seems to extend full length only in the back as we see a hint of the pattern draping downward on the right side. It is matched with a black skirt that has some type of applique on the right side. Her simple black ribbon necklace is adorned with a large gold gilded broach. The image is in excellent minus condition with some light tinting to both sitters’ faces and lips. It has been resealed with a new glass and it is housed in half of a worn leather case.
